The goal is specific: an overwater villa, on Hilton points. That specificity matters, because at most Maldives properties it isn't achievable at any realistic points balance — and at one, it is.
You said Conrad, Waldorf, or any other overwater Hilton. That last clause turns out to matter a lot — Hilton's Small Luxury Hotels partnership quietly added three more Maldives resorts where an overwater villa books as a standard award, and one of them is cheaper than the Conrad.
| Property | Overwater on a standard award? | Points / night | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amilla Maldives cheapest | Yes — Sunset Water Pool Villa and Lagoon Water Pool Villa | 120,000 | SLH property. Two overwater categories on standard awards, both with private pools. Free night certificates work here. |
| Conrad Maldives Rangali Island the known quantity | Yes — Sunrise Water Villa | 120,000–180,000 | One of the first Hiltons to put overwater villas on standard awards. Pricing has climbed hard: 95k → 140k → up to 180k. Seaplane transfer ~$526 per adult. |
| Milaidhoo Maldives | Yes — Water Pool Villa | 130,000 | SLH. Small, adults-oriented, well regarded. Worth a look precisely because nobody thinks of it as a Hilton. |
| Huvafen Fushi Maldives | Yes — Lagoon Bungalow with Pool | 150,000 | SLH. Famous for the underwater spa. The priciest of the three newcomers. |
| Waldorf Astoria Ithaafushi | No — standard award is a reef villa | 150,000–250,000 | Overwater and beach villas are premium room awards at 1,155,000–3,589,000 points a night. Also an $862 transfer per adult. Effectively out for our goal. |
| Hilton Maldives Amingiri | No — overwater is premium-only | — | Newest Hilton in the Maldives and a lovely resort, but its overwater villas can't be had on a standard award or a free night certificate. |
| Baros · SAii Lagoon | No — premium-only | — | Same restriction. |
Three things. Waldorf is out for an overwater villa — its standard award buys a reef villa, and the overwater categories are priced beyond any realistic balance. Amilla at 120,000 is the value play, matching the Conrad's floor and beating its ceiling. And the whole goal is more affordable than I first said: at 120,000 a night, five consecutive nights with Diamond's free fifth night is 480,000 points, not 720,000.
Against your 900,000 earmark that's a five-night overwater stay with 420,000 to spare — enough for several more nights, or a serious cushion against further devaluation. You are further ahead on this than you thought.
Transfers are not covered by points and they are not small. The Conrad's seaplane runs about $526 per adult round trip — roughly $1,050 for the two of you — and the Waldorf's boat is $862 each. Budget $900–1,700 for getting to the island whichever property wins, and check it per resort, because the hotel sets the price and it varies wildly.
Food is the other one. Maldives resort dining is expensive even by resort standards, and a points stay usually includes nothing. A half-board plan is normally worth buying up front rather than paying à la carte.
Tick what you've settled. Everything saves as you go, and the summary underneath is what I read to update the plan — either directly, or by pasting it back to me with the button.
Anything the options can't capture — a constraint, a hard no, a question, something you'd rather I looked into.
